Our privacy posture

TurkishDiaspore.org is an educational reference site. It has no shop, no user accounts, no login, no newsletter capture, and no advertising. We collect as little data as possible.

Server log files & hosting

When you visit the site, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical data (for example the requesting IP address, date and time, the page requested, referrer, and browser/OS type). This is necessary to deliver the site securely and to detect and defend against attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, functioning website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; and the corresponding legitimate-interest basis under Türkiye’s KVKK). These logs are kept only as long as needed for security and are then deleted. Hosting takes place on infrastructure within the European Union under a data-processing agreement.

Cookies & consent

Strictly necessary cookies exist only to deliver core functionality and to remember your cookie choice. No optional cookie is set unless you accept it. A consent banner lets you accept or reject by category; everything optional stays denied until you choose, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the cookie preferences on this site. The accessibility tools on this site let you report a barrier to us. Doing so processes your name, your email address and your description of the problem, plus — optionally — the page affected and the assistive technology you use. Your report reaches us by email at ✉. We use these details solely to fix the reported problem and to reply to you, and we keep them only as long as that requires. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in an accessible website and in answering your report (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Fonts & presentation

For consistent typography, this site uses the “Cormorant Garamond” and “Inter” web fonts, plus — only if you switch it on in the accessibility tools — a dyslexia-friendly typeface. All of these font files are held on our own server and are loaded only from there. No connection is made to Google Fonts or to any other third-party server for this purpose; your IP address is not transmitted to anyone for it, and no font cookie is set.

Analytics & advertising

This site uses Google Analytics 4 (via the Google Site Kit plugin) to understand which pages are useful. We use no advertising networks, no social-media tracking pixels, and no cross-device profiling.

Analytics runs only if you accept analytics cookies. Until you do, the analytics script is blocked from loading, Google Consent Mode is set to analytics_storage: denied, and no analytics cookies (_ga, _gid) are set. If you decline, none of this ever loads.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR / §25 TDDDG; and the corresponding consent basis under Türkiye’s KVKK).
